The professional laser course consists of a four-part certificate program. The course is designed to update and upskill aesthetic practitioners who are interested in operating laser devices safely. Participants will acquire a range of skills and knowledge to perform safe and effective treatments.

The professional laser course consists of a four-part certificate program. The course is designed to update and upskill aesthetic practitioners who are interested in operating laser devices safely. Participants will acquire a range of skills and knowledge to perform safe and effective treatments with laser.

Course Instructions:

Some modules may refer to knowledge learned in earlier modules, it is recommended to do the modules in order, however, it is not compulsory to do the modules in order. Successful completion will include:

  • Pre–course compulsory reflective activity
  • Successful completion of the Knowledge and Application of Knowledge exam questions
  • Post-course compulsory reflective activity

Once the requirement is complete a certificate will be issued.

Delivery method:

The professional laser course is designed to provide theory online. There are 4 modules in the Eluxx (Device) course program. The theory of the course can be completed in 4 weeks and one week is allocated for the exam. Cement your knowledge in the accompanying workshop with hands-on training, demonstrations and expert guidance in a small group setting.

Course Outlines:

  1. Contextualise the properties of light when applied to laser and light-based procedures in aesthetic practice.
  2. Discuss the biological effect of light and its interaction with tissue.
  3. Discuss the concept of photo-thermolysis
  4. Understanding the difference between laser and IPL
  5. Understand the role and responsibilities of aesthetician using laser and IPL
  6. Apply knowledge of laser and light-based devices with safety.
  7. Understand the mechanism of action of the Q-switch laser on tattoo pigment
  8. Apply Q-switch knowledge to carbon facial
  9. Understand and apply knowledge of radio frequency a non-light-based technology for skin treatments.
  10. Discuss the application of combining modalities for best practice.

Assessment requirements:

There is one online examination requirement for this course and a pre/post reflective activity.

  1. 75 knowledge questions worth 50 per cent. The overall pass mark is 80 per cent.
  2. Complete the pre-course compulsory reflective activity before commencing the modules.
  3. Post-course compulsory reflective activity will be available after the completion of the modules and assessment.
